The Lions and Bearcats battled evenly through three quarters of play, but McKendree ultimately pulled away in the fourth for an 11-8 victory over Lindenwood Tuesday evening at the Metro Rec-Plex in O'Fallon, Illinois.
 
The Lions stayed with the Bearcats through the first half, trailing 3-2 after the first quarter, and tying the contest at three by the break.  Nine goals were scored in the third with McKendree taking an 8-7 advantage before the Bearcats added three more in the final quarter while only yielding one marker to Lindenwood.
Jamie Gambin led the Lions offense with four goals while 
Andres Miranda, 
Vuk Budrak, 
Nikola Vukic, and 
Marino Chorro each added one score.  
Ratimir Babic was the team leader in assists with three and 
Mitch Griffin helped the defensive effort with four steals.  Marcel Ferral played the entire game and stopped 12 out of 23 shots in goal.
The loss dropped the Lions to 6-4 on the season.  Conference play in the Missouri Valley Division begins September 14-15 with Lindenwood hosting the event at the St. Peters Rec-Plex in St. Peters, Missouri.
The B squads for each team also squared off Tuesday night with McKendree getting a 9-6 win.  The Lions built an early lead at 3-2, but the Bearcats tied the contest at three by halftime and then pulled away in the second half.
Six Lindenwood players each scored a goal including 
Viktor Nagy, Edu Ariste, Pol Sandoval, 
Benedek Horvath, 
Simon Everts, and Will Doyle.  Martin Darnell was one of three to earn an assist and he also paced the defense with four steals.  Rogino Salcedo also helped the defensive cause with two steals.  
Anthony Coppin made four saves on 11 shots in goal.
