Two former Lions will participate in the 2019 Rugby World Cup, Malon Al-Jiboori as a player, and
Jimmy Harrison as a coach with the USA Eagles.
Al-Jiboori is from Tulsa, Oklahoma and previously earned five caps with the Eagles. The six foot, three inch, 230-pound flanker brings great physicality and athleticism to the field when called upon. He attended Lindenwood from 2015 to 2017 and has international experience in both the 15's and sevens codes of rugby. His younger brother Tyren is a current member of the Lions and helped the sevens team win the national championship last spring.
Harrison is the head analyst for the Eagles and is also the right-hand man for Team USA Head Coach Gary Gold. Harrison, who is from the St Louis area and was a Lindenwood assistant coach until January 2017, is a sports technology specialist and has helped the Lions and the Eagles accumulate heaps of useful information every year.
The USA team will kick off its tournament against England on September 26 in Kobe City, Japan. The Eagles will follow with matches against France, Argentina, and Tonga. The Rugby World Cup is the biggest rugby tournament and the third-largest sporting event in the world, behind the Olympics and the soccer World Cup.
