Men’s Rugby Looks Forward to D1A Playoffs

Men's rugby recently completed its XV's regular season with a record of 22-1 and a perfect 6-0 mark in the Mid-South Conference (MSC).

This has earned the Lions the No. 2 seed in the USA Rugby D1A National Championships and an opportunity to host a quarterfinal playoff match on April 16 against the winner of an opening round game between Arkansas State and Texas A & M. The highest two remaining seeds will host the two national semifinals

Head Coach Josh Macy believes his squad is ready for the post-season.

"April is where all the depth and development we've done since October comes to fruition," he said. "Hard work and opportunity has led to a tough but manageable draw and I can't wait to watch our guys get their hands on the matches in front of them."

The quarterfinal playoff match on April 16 will be the first at home for the Lions since 2016. The opening kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. that Saturday in Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Missouri.

The D1A National Championships feature the top 12 programs in the country. The national championship match will be played April 30 at Aveva Stadium in Houston, Texas.
