Lindenwood women's volleyball hits the road for their first away Ohio Valley Conference matches of the season as they take on the Golden Eagles of Tennessee Tech in Cookeville, Tenn. The Lions knocked off TTU last season in the OVC Tournament in three sets.
Over the course of the first two weeks of OVC play, the Lions have jumped out to a 3-1 start. They started the season with four straight conference matches picking up wins against Western Illinois, SIUE and UT Martin.
Tennessee Tech currently holds of 1-3 OVC record despite having a 14-4 record in the conference during the 2022 season. The Golden Eagles suffered two losses to Tennessee State two weeks ago before splitting their series with Little Rock last week.Â
The Lions were picked to finish seventh this season in the OVC during the preseason voting. Tennessee Tech was picked to finish tied for first in the OVC with six preseason first place votes (tied with SEMO).

Lindenwood women's volleyball finished their fourth straight home match with a win against Ohio Valley Conference opponent UT Martin by a final score of 3-1.Â
Jessie Seidel set the all-time Lindenwood record in digs in the NCAA era in the second set with her 1,377th career dig.
The Lions jumped out to the early 1-0 lead in the match with a 25-22 set score in the first. Four different Panthers had multiple kills in the set including four byÂ
Addy McAleer. Lindenwood held UTM to a -.079 hitting percentage with 10 errors.
After trailing 11-16 midway through the set, the Lions rallied back to win the first after causing three errors by Skyhawk attackers in the last five points. Seidel andÂ
Allie Otten both had five digs and one ace in the set.
The second set saw a back-and-forth showcase between the Lions and the Skyhawks as there was 12 tied scores and six lead changes. Ultimately, Lindenwood secured the set win in the second with a 29-27 score to put LU up 2-0.
Rebecca Janke provided an extra spark as she posted five of her kills in the second. The Lions scored 20 of their 29 points on kills with a .218 hitting percentage. Otten andÂ
Abby VanBuskirk combined for 14 assists.Â
Nyah Wilson helped end the set with a kill, one of four for her in the set.
UT Martin earned their lone set win in the third after defeating the Lions 19-25. The Skyhawks had their best set in the third after posting 16 kills and a .282 hitting percentage. The Lions were led by McAleer with three kills in the third.
Lindenwood secured their third OVC win of the season as they clinched the fourth set by a final score of 25-18. LU's balanced attack from Janke (four kills) and McAleer (three kills) propelled the Lions to a win. The Lions had a .342 hitting percentage with 15 kills in rout to the win.
McAleer ended the match with 13 kills and 10 digs for a double-double. Janke was right behind her with 11 kills of her own and five total blocks. Seidel had 25 digs in the win including her career-leading dig in the second set.
Allie Otten was the leading assister with 22 while VanBuskirk added 18 off the bench.Â
Nyah Wilson also had nine kills and 11 digs for the Lions in their seventh victory of the season.
OVC Top Ten
Rebecca Janke climbs the leaderboard this week after an effective weekend against UT Martin. Janke now sits in sixth in hitting percentage in the conference with a .307 on over 400 attempts. She is also tied for ninth in blocks per set with 0.96 and sixth in total blocks with 55.
Addy McAleer continues to put up numbers in her first season as a Lindenwood Lion. Her 180 kills this season currently is in seventh most in the OVC while her 3.16Â kills per set ranks eighth. She also is in the top ten in points scored with an average of 3.54 per set.
Jessie Seidel is the highest ranking Lion on the list in their respective category as she ranks fourth in the OVC in digs (282) and digs per set (4.95).
Allie Otten also ranks in the top ten in assists with an average of 6.56 per set (eighth best).
Player To Watch
Nyah Wilson has been one of the most consistent players on the squad after starting every single match for the Lions. She ranks third on the team in kills with 150 for an average of 2.63 per set. She is also hitting .184 on the season on 452 attempts.
Wilson has a total of eight double digit kill matches. Not only is she effective on the attack but she also plays stellar defense. Her 148 digs also ranks third on the team and has posted seven double digit dig matches including three straight. Wilson has five double-double for Lindenwood.
