In their most recent series, the Lindenwood Lions hosted Augustana University in the home season opener. LU's "Frozen Roar" was one for the books. Opening weekend didn't end with a sweep of the Vikings after a 4-3 loss in overtime, however Saturday's match ended heavily in favor of the hosting Lions who glided to a 5-3 victory.
This weekend LU will host the Sharks of Long Island University on Friday, November 17th and Saturday, November 18th. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:10 pm on Friday and 2:10 pm on Saturday at the Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, Missouri. The last time these two teams met, LIU won game one in overtime 3-2 and game two 6-4 in January of this year.
Trent Burnham, who protected the net for Lindenwood recorded 29 saves on Friday and 41 on Saturday. Jake Southgate enters the weekend pacing the Lions with eight points, with four goals and four assists. Kyle Jeffers earned seven points, with three goals and four assists, while Kabore Dunn has six assists for six points.
The Sharks enter the weekend 4-7 after being swept by Omaha. On Friday, November 10th, LIU fell 3-2 and 5-4 in overtime on Saturday. Looking further back, the Sharks were able to edge past Sacred Heart, 2-1. Josh Zary enters leading LIU with 13 points. He has seven goals and six assists for the season. Isaiah Fox has 12 points, after recording two goals and 10 assists. Cade Mason, is also a person to watch, enters the weekend with one goal and 10 assists for 11 points.
Friday's game will be broadcast on Lindenwood's own 89.1 KCLC, while Saturday's will be on 590 The Fan.
