Women's bowling finished 18
th out of 65 teams while the men took 21
st out of 78 teams February 18-19 at the 54
th Annual Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The event featured a different oil pattern each day and the Lady Lions started well on Saturday, firing 1,014 out of the gate, the third best score of the entire field. Games of 945 and 935 followed, but in a high scoring environment, Lindenwood actually dropped to 14
th in the standings. After their low game of the day in game four, the Lady Lions finished the day with scores of 1,046 and 935. With a grand total of 5,783, Lindenwood sat in 15
th place, only 139 pins from the top eight cut for match play.
Scoring was harder on Sunday for three, five-game baker sets. The Lady Lions once again started well with 932, their high set of the day including games of 233 and 212. While it only moved them up a spot to 14
th, the distance to the cut line had been reduced to only 73 pins, but the final two sets were a struggle with only one game over 200 the rest of the way. Lindenwood finished with a grand total of 8,432 (187.38 per game overall average) and settled for 18
th place.
The Lions took a much different route to their finish in the event as they started slowly on Saturday. After the first two games, Lindenwood was in 54
th place, but four straight games over 1,000 followed, including 1,025; 1,023; 1,032; and 1,006. The Lions climbed in the standings each game to 43
rd, then 28
th, to 23
rd, and to 21
st by the end of the day. With a grand total of 5,983, Lindenwood was within striking distance of the cut line for match play, 248 pins behind eighth place.
Like the women's division, scoring on Sunday was at a premium, but the Lions had a great start, firing an opening five-game baker set of 1,014 including games of 219, 216, and 213. They climbed to 18
th and cut the deficit to eighth down to 206, but things didn't go well the second set. Multiple splits and missed spares resulted in only one game above 180, so Lindenwood slipped back to 23
rd place. The Lions rallied with three of their final four games of the day in the 200's, including a high of 223 to finish with a final set of 994. With a grand total of 8,756 (194.58 per game overall average), Lindenwood managed to climb back to 21
st in the standings.
Individually, senior
Drew Sacks led the Lions with a six-game total of 1,319 (219.83 average) including games of 265 and 237. That was enough for 17
th place in a field of 539 bowlers.
Emmanuel McPherson totaled 1,270 (211.67 average) including games of 264 and 244 to finish 43
rd.
Garrett Jolly averaged 195 for three games and

In a women's field of 408, senior
Renata Martinez led the Lady Lions with a total of 1,253 (208.83 average) including games of 238 and 224, to finish 19
th.
Liz Rittenour totaled 1,178 including a high game of 237, to take 70
th.
Samantha Smith averaged 190.17 for six games,
Hailey Bozych averaged 189.2 for five games,
Karsyn Braasch averaged 185.33 for three games, and senior
Maddie San Soucie shot 188 to help the Lindenwood cause.
