Lindenwood Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Jason Coomer has named Frank Yattoni as the next head coach for the women's wrestling program.
"Today is a great step forward with our program as Coach Yattoni takes the reins of our program as our head coach," said Coomer, "Coach Yattoni's professional approach to operating a high-level program was evident and we are excited for the future of Lindenwood women's wrestling. It was clear that Frank was the right person for the job, and I am confident that he will continue to develop our young women as leaders both on and off the mat."
Before the start of the 2023-24 season, Yattoni served as an assistant coach for both the men and women's wrestling programs. During the 2022-23 season, the women's program finished in 20th place at the NCWWC National Championships.
Before coming to Lindenwood, Yattoni spent two seasons on the staff of the Minot State wrestling program where he served as a graduate assistant. At Minot State, Yattoni mentored the athletes in the classroom, elevating the team GPA to a 3.0 in the fall semester of 2020.
Yattoni assisted in coaching an NCAA Division II National Qualifier during the 2019-20 season. While in North Dakota, he coached at risk youth wrestlers at the MHA Nation Trial Youth Wrestling Club. Yattoni succeeded in a drastic increase in practice participation by developing positive relationships with the athletes.
"I want to thank Jason Coomer and Lindenwood for giving me the opportunity. I am looking forward to continuing the elevation of the program on the national scene. The future is bright for Lindenwood women's wrestling," stated Yattoni.
Prior to his stop in North Dakota, Yattoni served as a volunteer on the staff at Wisconsin-Parkside. He helped the Rangers land two national qualifiers. While wrestling at Wisconsin-Parkside, Yattoni placed first at regionals, and third at the NCAA Division II National Championships. He earned All-American status at 149 pounds and scored the most individual match points at 2018 NCAA Division II National Championship with 67 points.
Yattoni earned his bachelor's in environmental studies with minors in geography and geographic information systems from Wisconsin-Parkside in 2019. Yattoni earned a master's in sports management in 2021 from Minot State.
