Lindenwood and #11 Western Michigan will meet on the ice once again this season. In their last time out, the Lions dropped both games on the road, game one 3-1 and the second 5-1. Lindenwood hasn't faced another opponent since facing off against the Broncos in early December.
Western Michigan faced and split against #4 University of Denver. In their first contest, the Broncos prevailed 7-3, while dropping the second 6-5 in overtime. Both teams took a break in December, however Western Michigan hosted Western Ontario in an exhibition, winning 6-2 on December 30th.
The last time these two teams met on December 2nd, the Lions conceded five goals, with two of those being power play goals.
David Gagnon scored the only goal for Lindenwood, unassisted.
Trent Burnham served the Lions as goalie for all 60 minutes, recorded 39 saves. On the opposite end of the ice, Cameron Rowe served as the Broncos goalie, recorded 20 saves.
In their December 1st contest, the Lions scored first. Gagnon scored on a pass from
Caige Sterzer and
Joe Prouty. At the conclusion of the first period, Lindenwood held a 1-0 advantage. The Broncos scored each of their three goals in the second period, one of which was a power play goal. With neither team able to score in the final period, the contest ended 3-1. Burnham and Rowe are the goalies on record for both teams. Burnham recorded 64 saves, while Rowe tallied 16.
When the two teams met in early December, Western Michigan was ranked at #14, they have since climbed higher in the NCAA Division I men's ice hockey rankings, as they are currently number 12.
