Men's Volleyball Tangles With No. 11 Ohio State For MIVA Championship

The No. 19 Lindenwood men's volleyball team (16-11, 9-7 MIVA), heads to the MIVA Championship game for the first time in program history and will face No. 11 Ohio State (21-8, 11-5 MIVA) on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. CT in Muncie, Ind.

FIRST SERVE
  • Lindenwood pushed its win streak to eight with a thrilling five set win over No. 10 Ball State in the MIVA semifinals on Thursday.
  • With the win, the Lions advanced to their first MIVA Championship game in program history.
  • This was also the first-ever win for Lindenwood over Ball State in Muncie as the Lions had been 0-15 all time.
  • The Lions now have seven wins over ranked teams on the year.
  • In the victory over Ball State, A.J. Lewis and Clay Wieter paced Lindenwood with 16 kills apiece.
  • Wieter is a part of the 300/.300 clubs as he has recorded 319 kills, while hitting .321 on the year.
  • Lewis ranks eighth in the country in aces per set at .500.
  • Connor Sheehan leads the country in assists per set at 11.22.
  • The Lions and Buckeyes split the season series with both teams winning on their home floor.
  • Lindenwood defeated Ohio State in the last meeting on March 30, 3-1.
  • In that matchup, Ian Schuller led the way with 16 kills, while Wieter added 15.

2024 OUTLOOK
The Lindenwood men's volleyball team currently has 14 matchups against ranked teams on its 2024 schedule. The squad was picked to finished sixth in the Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association Preseason Poll earning 41 points. Lindenwood returns key pieces to their lineup for 2024, including A.J. Lewis, RaShawn Bonner, and Ian Schuller, who all garnered all-conference honors a year ago. Lewis was named to the preseason all-MIVA team for the upcoming year. Last season, Lewis led the team with 39 service aces and was second on the team with 249 digs.
