The No. 7 Lindenwood women's wrestling team had an impressive showing at the Missouri Baptist Open with
Makayla Rivera taking the 180-pound crown, while
Caitlyn Jackson kept her strong season going at 117 pounds, capturing the title in that weight class.
OVERVIEW
The Lions had nine other wrestlers place on the day, including
Sienna Caruso who went 5-0 and took first at 103. She beat her teammate
Megan Valdez in her last match. Caruso had three pins on the day, tying her with
Kayla Edwards for most among Lindenwood wrestlers. Valdez went on to take third at 103.
Jackson captured her second championship of the year after finishing on top at 117 pounds.
Cayden Condit who is the No. 7 ranked wrestler at 131 earned second place in that weight class. After losing early. Edwards rattled off four-straight wins to come back and take fifth place.
Rivera grabbed the crown at 180 pounds and went 3-0 on the day.
Rebecca Strong took second at 145 and
Sara Lake did the same in the 207-pound weight class. Kate Copper earned sixth at 110.
Overall, Lindenwood went 47-20 at the open and had 18 pins on the day.
