MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. – The Lindenwood men's hockey team (5-5-0) put on an offensive clinic on Saturday night with a 10-0 drubbing of Grand Canyon (9-4-0, 7-2-0 WCHL) at Centene Community Ice Center. Six different Lions found the back of the net, led by
Olivier Houde with a hat trick.
Game Overview
Lindenwood came out firing in the first period, outshooting the Lopes 26-3 in the frame and finding their first goal with an
Olivier Houde power play conversion at the 12:21 mark. However, GCU was able to withstand the offensive barrage without allowing another goal in the period, and the game entered the first intermission with LU leading by just a goal.
The Lions' offensive pressure would pay off much more heavily in the second period, with Lindenwood extending their lead to 5-0 behind a pair of goals from
Olivier Houde, who completed the hat trick with over six minutes remaining in the second period.
Ty Hipkin and
Anselmo Rego also posted goals in the period.
Lindenwood continued pouring it on in the third period with five more goals.
Ty Hipkin found the back of the net for the second time just 32 seconds into the frame before
Brady Yakesh struck only 36 seconds later to make the score 7-0 in favor of the Lions.
Nolan Seed would join the fun with a score at the 5:36 mark before
Drew Kuzma and
Tyler Loughman put an exclamation point on things with a pair of goals just six seconds apart in the period's 19th minute.
Lindenwood finished the game with a 61-9 advantage in shots on goal, pairing relentless offensive pressure with suffocating defense.
