ST.CHARLES, MO.- Lindenwood Women's Tennis wrapped up their first meet of the fall over the weekend as they competed with SIUE and Wash U on Friday and Saturday in the LU Dual.
On Friday,
Megan Caffin,
Paola Garcia, and
Aisha Merchant picked up wins in singles play over SIUE. Caffin won in straight sets by scores of 6-3, 6-4 while Garcia also won in straight sets by scores of 7-5 and 6-2. In doubles play, the Lions took three out of five matches as
Michelle Trochez and
Mathilde Humbert defeated Wash U's Chloe Brisset and Hallie Jeffers by a score of 6-2. Humbert would win her second doubles match of the day with Caffin, as the duo beat Wash U 7-5. The final doubles win consisted of Garcia and
Fabiana Labrador who would edge out a victory by a score of 7-6.
On Saturday, Garcia won her second singles match of the meet defeating Wash U's Maddie Morgan 7-6, 6-2.
Sofija Dunisijevic also picked up her first win of the meet in singles play as she came back to beat Wash U's Teleya Blunt in three sets by scores of 2-6, 7-5, 10-7. Overall,
Paola Garcia went 2-0 in singles play to lead the Lions for the meet while Humbert picked up two wins in doubles.
Lindenwood will return to action in a couple of weeks as they will head to the OVC Championships starting on Friday, September 26. The meet is set to begin at 10 a.m.
