Michelle Trochez won their first OVC singles matches of the season in the win over the Leathernecks, while
Paola Garcia,
Megan Caffin, and
Mathilde Humbert all improved to 2-0 in the OVC during singles competition.
Caffin's 2-0 start to conference play also led her to be named the OVC Singles Player of the Week which was announced on Tuesday afternoon. The Sophomore from Amsterdam, Netherlands won both of her OVC matches last week in straight sets and improved her overall singles record in 2026 to 6-3, which is tied for the team lead in singles wins along with teammate
Sofija Dunisijevic. The victory over WIU on Sunday marked the best start to conference play in the Division I Era (2-0), and the Lions will look to carry their momentum over into tomorrow's match with the Tennessee State Tigers.Â

The Tigers are currently 0-10 on the season and are still searching for their first win of the 2026 Spring Season. TSU has picked up two total points across their 10 matches played with Sophomore Victoria Cooksey taking home one of those points with a three set victory over Western Kentucky's Emily Schut by scores of 6-4, 3-6, 10-7.Â
