The Lindenwood indoor track and field teams began the season Friday at the Saluki Fast Start. Both the women's and men's competed well in the season opening meet.
For the women, Courtney Heidorn placed fourth in the 800-meter dash. In the triple jump event, Cecilia Mboua was third with a distance of 12.36 meters.
On the men's side, the Lions had strong showings in the field events. They dominated the shot put with four teammates finishing in the top eight, including Jim Freeman coming in second. In the triple jump, Jaleen White placed second, with Demetrius Jackson placing sixth.
Tom Watson was fifth in the 600-meter run for the Lions and Raul Tascano was fourth in the 3000-meter run.
Four Lindenwood runners competed in the Midland half-marathon in Fremont, Nebraska on Saturday. Both Ai Shinohara and Ryan Irvine qualified for the national tournament, with times of 1:30:37 and 1:12:02 respectively. Shane Watts was a B-Qualifier finishing with a time of 1:15:11. Nicole Rottler also ran and placed 22nd on the women's side, with a time of 1:39:43. Track and field's next event is the Missouri Invitational in Columbia on January 11th.
