The Lindenwood Lady Lions soccer team ended a three-game losing streak on Saturday afternoon after beating MidAmerica Nazarene 2-0.
Lindenwood put on plenty of pressure on the Pioneers defense in the early portion of the first half but could not get anything into the net. The Lady Lions finally broke through in the 20th minute when Lindsay Shea scored her first of two goals on the day. The game would stay 1-0 heading into the half.
As the second half started the Pioneers offense came alive and peppered Lindenwood goalie Whitney Calvin with numerous scoring opportunities but the sophomore was up to the task. The Lady Lions would eventually get a scoring chance and Shea would not let it pass by giving the home team the 2-0 lead with just 10 minutes to play.
On the day, the Pioneers outshot the Lady Lions 8-3 but Calvin made all eight saves while recording her first shutout of the season.
With the win the Lady Lions improve their record to 3-4 and 1-0 in conference play. Up next for Lindenwood is a road game against Culver-Stockton College on September 29th.
