The Lindenwood men's and women's track teams traveled to Fayette, Missouri on Saturday to participate in the 2011 ASCIS/CMU Breast Cancer Awareness Invitational. The men's team finished second out of 21 teams, while the women's team placed 13th out of 17 teams.
The men had a strong showing, collecting two first-place finishes. Jim Freeman won the shot put and Jaleen White won the triple jump. White also finished second in the long jump.
Other notable finishes on the men's side included Bruno Boccalotta placing second in the hammer throw, followed by Mitchell Heady in fourth. Mike Tzianos was third in the discuss throw, Nick Orf placed fourth in the javelin, Demetrius Jackson was third in the triple jump. Ben McGraw finished fourth in the 1500 meter run, and the men's 4x400 meter relay team finished second.
For the women, Celia M'Boua won the triple jump to give the women a first place finish. Other strong performances included Jessica Ecker placing third in the javelin, Courtney Heidorn was fourth in the 1500 meter run, and
Jessica Ching was the runner-up in the 5000 meter race walk, followed by Alexis Gutterman in third.
Lindenwood will return to Fayette, Missouri next weekend to compete in the Central Methodist Invitational.
