Lady Lions Tennis Ease by Maryville

The Lindenwood women's tennis team won its second head-to-head competition with a 9-0 victory over Maryville on Wednesday evening.

The Lady Lions did not lose a match in breezing to the win. Adela Slovakova beat Chelsea Travis 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 singles, Mariona Pinol downed Lauren Land 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 and Sarah Sharpe was a 6-3, 6-1 winner over Valerie Saxton at No. 3.

Severine DeBeuf posted a 6-4, 6-2 triumph over her opponent at the No. 4 match. Rachel Bailey beat Karen Schwarm 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5, while Brigitte Bustamante topped Anna Hindelang 6-1, 6-2 at No. 6.

Competing in doubles action, Slovakova and Sharpe teamed up for an 8-4 win over Travis and Land at No. 1, and DeBeuf and Bailey blanked Saxton and Pfremmer 8-0 at the No. 2 match. Pinol and Bustamante were 8-1 winners over Schwarm and Hindelang at No. 3.

The Lady Lions will be back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 28 as they travel to the University of Missouri-St. Louis. Court time is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
