Women's Lacrosse Wins First WILA Game

Box Score The Lindenwood women's lacrosse team won its first Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (WILA) game on Friday afternoon at Hunter Stadium. The Lady Lions earned a conference victory over Colorado Mesa by a score of 21-4.

Lexi Crusha scored Lindenwood's first two goals of the game, and that second goal started a string of seven goals for the Lady Lions over the next 10 minutes. Lindenwood eventually led 10-0 before Colorado Mesa scored, and the Lindenwood lead was 11-2 at halftime. The Mavericks scored just 40 seconds into the second half, but the rest of the period was all Lady Lions as they outscored Colorado Mesa 10-1 after that point.

Kathryn St. George led Lindenwood with four goals, and Lexi Crusha had a team-high five points. Crusha, Melissa Menchella, Jordyn Constance, and Kara Cashen all scored three times. Lindsey Palmer netted two goals and Justiene Groothuis had one. Groothuis and Crusha each had a team-high two assists.

Constance led the team with four groundballs and Christine Hehmeyer made five saves in goal on the way to her second victory of the season.

Lindenwood improves to 2-1 on the year. The Lady Lions will face Lake Erie on Sunday at 12 p.m. at Hunter Stadium.
