Box Score The Lindenwood women's lacrosse team earned a road victory on Friday afternoon with a 24-7 win over Dominican in Hillburn, N.Y. The Lady Lions outscored Dominican by a 17-3 margin in the final half.
After a fairly even first half, Lindenwood took over the contest in the final 30 minutes. Lindenwood outshot Dominican 26-9 in the second half and had a 16-4 advantage in draw controls.
Lexi Crusha had a huge game for Lindenwood with seven goals and two assists. She had three goals at halftime and scored the game-winner just over two minutes into the second half. She went on to score three other goals and have one assist for the remainder of the game. Only one of Crusha's eight shots on goal was saved by the other team's goalie.
Lindsey Palmer added five goals and two assists, and both
Justiene Groothuis and
Kara Cashen had four goals and two assists.
Kathryn St. George,
Jordyn Constance,
Melissa Menchella, and
Meghan Chase all had one goal. Constance also had two assists, and St. George and
Renee Abrolat had one.
Defensively,
Christine Hehmeyer made 12 saves in the game, including eight in the first half to help Lindenwood hold a halftime advantage.
Asia Woodside forced three turnovers and
Stephanie Tirman had two. Tirman led the team with seven draw controls and Groothuis and Woodside both had a team-high three groundballs.
Lindenwood, which is now 4-1 on the season, will stay in New York until Sunday when it will face nationally-ranked Dowling at 1 p.m. (eastern time).
