Women's Lacrosse Takes Big Lead In Conference Race

Box Score The Lindenwood women's lacrosse team took a big lead in the race for the WILA Championship on Sunday afternoon with a 15-12 victory over Regis at Hunter Stadium. The Lady Lions now have a two-game lead in the loss column in the conference standings with just four games remaining.

Lindenwood trailed much of the game but got a big spark from Jordyn Constance over the last 15 minutes to capture the victory. Regis won 10 of the first 11 draw controls in the second-half, but Constance won three down the stretch. The first two draw control wins led to quick Lady Lion scores, including one that put the team ahead for good at 13-12. Constance then recorded one of the biggest goals of the game when she caused a turnover by Regis' goalie and scored seconds later to put Lindenwood ahead 14-12. Lindenwood would add an empty net goal and its defense didn't allow a goal for the final 9:56 of the game.

Kara Cashen led the offense with six goals, followed by Lindsey Palmer with four. Justiene Groothuis added three goals and Melissa Menchella had one. Lexi Crusha recorded three assists and Kathryn St. George had one. Cashen also led the team with five groundballs. Christine Hehmeyer picked up the win in goal, making 10 saves in the game.

Lindenwood improves to 10-2 on the season and 4-0 in conference play. The Lady Lions will be at home on Tuesday evening for a conference contest against Adams State.
