The Lindenwood men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Darrel County Open on Saturday at William Jewell College in Liberty, Mo. Both teams finished in fourth with the men finishing with 107 total points while the women recorded 69.
During the field events,
Nicholas Orf recorded a first place finish in the javelin throw with a final distance of 52.85m. Orf also placed third in both the discus and hammer throw. He posted a 43.69m distance in the discus and 48.91m in the hammer throw.
Martin Sarov finished with a second place finish in the triple jump.
Jessica Weston also recorded a first place finish in women's shot put throwing for a distance of 13.05m. Her discus throw was 34.91m, which earned her a fourth place finish. Natasha Mouratidou was also successful as she recorded second in the hammer throw.
Lindenwood continued to compete on the track where both teams had impressive outings. Esteban Reynoso placed first in the 400m hurdles followed by a close third from
Rodney Mays, who also finished the 110m hurdles in third. Meanwhile,
Ethan Stack recorded first in the 5000m run as well as Jonas Kerhbaum posting fourth during the 200m dash.
China Moore placed highest for the Lady Lions in the track events with a second place finish in the 100m hurdles. Moore also finished fourth in the 200m dash. In the 800m run, the Lady Lions recorded the fourth and fifth place spots with Bianca Rockwood finishing just ahead of teammate,
Caitlin Howe.
Both teams were successful in the relays as the Lions recorded a first place finish in the 4x100m relay and women placed second in the 4x400m relays.
The track and field team will travel to Rolla, Mo., for the Dewey Allgood Invitational on Sat., April 21.
