Box Score The Lindenwood women's lacrosse team took another step closer to its first Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association title on Tuesday night. The Lady Lions defeated conference rival Adams State by a 17-4 score at Hunter Stadium.
Lindenwood never trailed in the contest as it scored the first seven goals in less than 10 minutes. The Lady Lions defense finished the game allowing just 11 shots, six fewer than the amount of goals that Lindenwood scored.
Ten different Lady Lions scored on the night, led by three goals apiece by
Kara Cashen and
Lexi Crusha. Crusha also had three assists.
Justiene Groothuis,
Kathryn St. George, and
Renee Abrolat all scored twice.
Stephanie Tirman recorded her first goal of the season to cap off the scoring for the Lady Lions.
Christine Hehmeyer earned the win in goal, making four saves and allowing two goals in 30 minutes. St. George led the team with three groundballs,
Taylor Berent and Tirman each had five draw control wins, and
Meghan Chase caused a team-high three turnovers.
Lindenwood improves to 11-2 on the season and 5-0 in conference play. The Lady Lions will look to extend their seven-game winning streak on Friday evening with a 6 p.m. contest at Hunter Stadium against Grand Valley State.
