Box Score The Lindenwood women's lacrosse team remained in first place in the Western Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (WILA) on Friday night after a 20-9 conference victory over Fort Lewis at Hunter Stadium in St. Charles, Mo.
The Lady Lions won the game in the first 30 minutes when they outscored Fort Lewis by a 12-2 margin. The score was tied 2-2 seven minutes into the game, but Lindenwood scored the final 10 goals of the half. Five of those scores came in the final 4:31 of the period.
Lexi Crusha led the offense with four goals and three assists.
Lindsey Palmer also netted four scores and recorded two assists.
Justiene Groothuis and
Kara Cashen both had three goals and two assists.
Kathryn St. George and
Jordyn Constance each had two goals, and
Melissa Menchella and
Taylor Mayeda had one goal apiece.
Christine Hehmeyer recorded a complete game in goal and made 10 saves. She also led the team with seven groundballs. Other team leaders in groundballs were four each for Groothuis, St. George, and Crusha. St. George also caused a team-high four turnovers.
Lindenwood improves to 7-2 on the season and 3-0 in conference play. The Lady Lions will next play a non-conference game on Sunday at 12:30 p.m. against Lees-McRae at Hunter Stadium.
