Mitchell Heady led the Lindenwood track and field teams on Saturday at the Illini Open by capturing the weight throw title. Three other athletes placed in the top-three at the NCAA Division I competition.
Heady recorded a mark of 17.18m in the weight throw and won the event by 0.14m over the runner-up from the University of Illinois. The other men's athlete to finish in the top-three was
Bryan Kertz who placed third in the shot put with a mark of 14.73m.
On the women's side, Terah Fullman,
Lindsey Blackwell, and
Claire Buckman each had top-three showings. Fullman ran a 1:35.94 in the 600m and finished second. Blackwell also had a runner-up finish after having a mark of 14.59m in the weight throw. Buckman was third in the pole vault after clearing 3.15m.
Other highlights on the men's side included the 4x400 relay team placing fifth, Kertz finishing sixth in the weight throw,
Mike Reynoso placing sixth in the 600m, and Heady adding an eighth-place shot put finish to his weight throw title.
For the women, Blackwell was fourth in the shot put,
Michelle Kyle was fifth in the weight throw and seventh in the shot put,
Courtney Heidorn was sixth in the 800m,
Jennifer Carter was seventh in the 600m, and
Kimberly Klenke was seventh in the pole vault.
