Box Score The Lindenwood women's lacrosse team extended its season-opening winning streak to five games with a 19-4 victory over Adams State on Wednesday night in Hunter Stadium. The game was the Lady Lions home and conference opener.
Lindenwood was never threatended in the game and pulled away for good with an 11-0 run from the 16:31 mark of the first half to the 20:49 mark of the second half. The Lady Lions outshot Adams State 33-14, including a 20-7 margin in the first half when they jumped out to a 12-2 lead.
Shelby Polk led Lindenwood with five goals and two assists, including five points in the first 30 minutes. Polk also had a team-high six draw controls.
Justiene Groothuis and
Melissa Smith each finished with three goals and one assist, and
Lindsey Palmer had one goal and two assists.Defensively,
Christine Hehmeyer made six saves in goal while facing 10 shots on goal.
Maddi Ossello had two caused turnovers and three draw controls.
Lindenwood improves to 9-0 all-time in its NCAA era at Hunter Stadium and 9-0 in WILA action. The Lady Lions will be home again on Saturday afternoon with a 5 p.m. contest against Findlay.
