Lindenwood thrower
Mitchell Heady set a meet record over the weekend at the Jim Duncan Invitational in Des Moines, Iowa.
Heady's record-setting throw came in the hammer event. Mitchell had a mark of 59.77m which was also his top throw of the 2013 outdoor season. Heady won the competition over 15 other throws, most from NCAA Division I programs.
Jessica Ecker was the top women's competitor for the Lady Lions at the event. She finished third in both the discus and javelin. Another third-place finish came in the men's pole vault where
Edgar Garza had a bronze showing.
Lindenwood's other top-five finishes came from the women's 4x100 and 4x400 relays, the men's 4x100 relay, and
Bryan Kertz in the discus.
Lindenwood's top track and field athletes will be in action next week at the Kansas Relays.
