The women's lacrosse team beat Fort Lewis for the second time in six days on Saturday. Lindenwood won 19-8 after beating Fort Lewis 19-10 earlier in the week. The team is now 12-0 on the season and 7-0 in the WILA.
After a slow start, the Lady Lions found themselves tied at two early in the game. Later in the half, the offense picked up and Lindenwood jumped out to an 8-4 lead by halftime. The Lady Lions put the game out of reach by scoring 11 second-half goals. Lindenwood won the turnover battle 24-19 and held an 18-10 advantage in draw controls in the win.
Shelby Polk had a big day offensively by tying the school record for goals in a game with seven. She also recorded 10 draw controls and an assist on the day. Polk was one of four Lady Lions to score multiple goals.
Maddi Ossello added four goals and an assist, while
Justiene Groothuis and
Melissa Smith scored two goals apiece.
Goalie
Christine Hehmeyer played all 60 minutes in goal and made three saves on her way to earning her 12
th victory of the season.
Lindenwood will be back in action on Saturday April 13
th when they host Rollins.
