Lindenwood's men's and women's track and field teams competed Saturday at the Illini Open hosted by the University of Illinois. This was an indoor meet that took place at the historic UI Armory.
The host Illini took home both the men's and women's titles as Lindenwood was not recorded in the team portion of the event as
only Division I schools were eligible for the team score. DePaul, Loyola, Eastern Illinois, and Saint Louis University were the Division I schools at the event.
The Lady Lions had a few notable scores during the course of the day. In the women's weight throw event Lindsay Blackwell made a throw of 15.70m, which would have been good enough for fourth if Lindenwood was eligible.
In the shot put Blackwell and
Paden Wachter both recorded throws over 12m which was in the top 6 for that event.
For the men, the 4x400 meter relay team of
Mike Reynoso,
Kevin Brown,
Brannon Wright, and Jonas Kerhbraum recorded a time of 3:27.18. The time was top four in the event. In the men's weight throw,
Bryan Kertz's throw was a distance of 16.36m for a top three finish.
Lindenwood will be back in action Jan. 24 when they travel to the University of Central Missouri.
