The Lindenwood Track and Field teams had some standout performances at the Principia Relays Friday. The event was held just across the Mississippi River at Principia College in Elsah, Ill.
The Lady Lions got off to a fast start taking first, second, and third in the women's pole vault.
Claire Buckman was a star while prevailing as the winner of the event with an impressive3.95m final vault height. The 3.95m height was good enough for a provisional and just short of the automatic standard of 4.00m.
Kimberly Klenke came in second for Lindenwood with a final vault of 3.45m. Rounding out the top three was
Haley Fink with her final vault of 3.35m.
Lindenwood wasn't finished making some noise in the field events with freshman
Kendra Smith winning the long jump with a final jump of 5.20m.
In the final field event for the Lady Lions, freshman
Paden Wachter won in the shot put with her final throw measured at 12.64m.
For the men, the 1600 sprint medley brought about some good fortune with the team of Esteban Reynoso, Rogerick Woods,
Jermaine Unanka, and
Brannon Wright winning. The medley relay squad won with a time of 3:37.57.
Unanka and Woods were joined by
Harrison Weber and
Joshua Newman in a win in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:25.75.
The Lions also earned a victory in another relay with a win in the 4x200 event. Juwan Kubit,
Jonas Kehrbaum, and
Kevin Brown, joined Wright for the win with a time of 1:30.23.
Next up for the men's and women's track and field teams is the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational in Lincoln, Neb. Feb. 7-8.
