Track and Field Wraps Up MIAA Indoor Championships

The Lindenwood men's and women's track teams finished the competition at the MIAA Indoor Championships Sunday in Joplin, Mo.

The women's team finished in eleventh place with a total of 29 points with the men placing eighth with 38.20 points.

Pittsburg State won the men's team competition with 130.20 points, while Lincoln won the women's team title with a total of 153 points.

Lindenwood had four individuals make MIAA All-Conference as well as two relay teams in the 4x400 medley relay

Lindsay Blackwell earned MIAA All-Conference with her finish of second in the women's weight throw. This concluded her excellent indoor season.

Senior Mike Reynoso won the 600 yard run and in the process earned MIAA-Conference while earning Lindenwood 10 points toward the team's score.

Reynoso also anchored the men's 4x400 medley relay team that met the provisional mark and came in second place after qualifying with the fastest time. The relay team earned eight points

Senior Terah Fullman beat the provisional mark in the women's 800 meter run at the event. She finished third in the run earning all-conference and the team received six points.

Fullman was part of the All-Conference 4x400 women's medley relay team that finished in third place.

Finally, Junior Juwan Cubit came in second in the men's 200 meter dash event. Cubit posted a preliminary time that put him in seventh, however he put up a finals time of 21.92 for the provisional mark and All-Conference honors.

The weekend of events saw the team's indoor portion of the MIAA season with the team moving on to the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships Mar. 14-15 in Winston Salem, N.C.

Day One Recap

Kendra Smith came in 20th place in the pentathlon. Smith ran a time of 10.01 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles. The first-place finisher came in with a time of 8.51 seconds. Smith had a high jump of 1.40 meters. She put a final throw of 8.19 meters in the shot put event.

In the long jump, Smith placed 15th with a jump of 5.06 meters. This was the best event in the pentathlon for her as she concluded with a 21st place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:45.10

Through four events in the heptathlon, Roderick Woods ended day one in seventh place of 16 competitors.

Woods competed first in one of his best events, the 60 meter dash. He finished with a time of 7.29 seconds good enough for eighth place. He finished just.05 seconds behind third place in the event.

Woods then moved on to the long jump where he would place fourth. He recorded a final jump of 6.72 meters for 748 points. The jump was .02 out of third place.

He struggled in the shot put coming in 16th position. His final round throw was measured at 9.08 meters.
In the final event of the day for the men, Woods bounced back very well. He finished second in the high jump with a jump of 1.93 meters. The winner of the event jumped 2.02



Day Two Recap

The day began with the conclusion of the heptathlon with Woods coming in eighth in the heptathlon. He earned the team one point for the finish. In the 60 meter hurdles, he finished in fifth spot with a time of 8.72 seconds less than a half second behind the first place finisher.

The pole vault was next up with Woods placing ninth out of 13 jumpers. He scored 562 points in the event. Finally in the 1000 meter run he posted a time of 3:02.09 for an eighth place finish. First place in heptathlon went to Payson Maydew of Emporia State.

In the women's triple jump, Joy Kanengiser finished fifth with a jump of 11.04 meters in the finals. The first place jump was 11.36 meters.

Freshman Zach Crump came in fifth in the men's weight throw with a distance of 14.58 meters. The throw narrowly missed being top-three for an all-conference honor.

Claire Buckman and Kimberly Klenke both came in seventh in the women's pole vault event. They both had a final jump height of 3.57 meters good enough to meet the provisional mark. The finish gave the duo both a point toward the team score.

In the women's 5000 meters, Ann Cherotich came in sixth place earning three points for the team. She ran a final round time of 18:03.30 about half a minute behind first place.

There was a women's medley relay event which Lindenwood was not a participant in. The men finished that event in last place.


Day Three Recap

Seniors Mike Reynoso and Terah Fullman were the stars for the Lindenwood track and field team during the third and final day of competition.

Reynoso won the 600 yard run and in the process earned MIAA-Conference while earning Lindenwood 10 points toward the team's score. He finished with a time of 1:13.52 after qualifying in first-place for the event just slightly faster at 1:13.37

Reynoso also anchored the men's 4x400 medley relay team that met the provisional mark and came in second place after qualifying with the fastest time. The team finished with a time of 3:19.95, just a second behind Lincoln for first place. Along with Reynoso was Jonas Kehrbaum, Juwan Cubit, and Brannon Wright.

Senior Terah Fullman beat the provisional mark in the women's 800 meter run at the event. She finished third in the run earning all-conference and the team received six points.

Fullman was part of the All-Conference 4x400 women's medley relay team that finished in third place. The relay team met the provisional mark with a time of 3:53.42. The team consisted of Jerelle Jones, Maya Mason, and Shamela Gray, in addition to Fullman. Lindenwood missed out on first-place by just .15 seconds.
