Box Score The No. 13 Lindenwood women's lacrosse team held off Fort Lewis on Saturday afternoon in Durango, Colo. by a 7-6 score.
The defensive battle was tied at four at halftime and tied at five midway through the second half. Lindenwood went ahead for good with goals by
Melissa Menchella and
Jordyn Constance. The Constance goal came at the 13:23 mark and proved to be the game-winner. Fort Lewis got within one with 11:27 remaining, but the Lady Lions shut out Fort Lewis for the rest of the game.
Lindenwood's defense forced nine turnovers and only allowed three second-half shots.
Christine Hehmeyer made three saves in goal and earned the victory.
Offensively,
Melissa Smith and Constance both scored twice.
Erin Abbott had a team-high three points with a goal and two assists.
Shelby Polk helped Lindenwood win the draw control battle with six draw controls.
Lindenwood improves to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in RMAC play. The Lady Lions return home next Friday with a key RMAC game with Regis.
