Box Score The No. 12 Lindenwood women's lacrosse team seized control of the RMAC race on Friday night at Hunter Stadium with a 12-9 victory over Regis. The Lady Lions need just one win in their final two conference contests to win their third straight conference championship.
The Lady Lions scored the first four goals of the game and Regis was never able to get even. The Rangers got within one goal on two occasions, but both times Lindenwood answered with a 3-0 run sparked by goals by
Melissa Smith.
The Lady Lions forced 23 turnovers in the game and had a 16-7 advantage in draw controls. That helped Lindenwood take 12 more shots in the game, including six more shots on goal.
Erin Abbott led the offense with four goals and two assists, followed by Smith with three goals and one helper. Five other players scored one goal and two others had an assist.
Shelby Polk dominated the draw controls and finished with 10. Smith and
Jordyn Constance both finished with a team-high five groundballs. Defensively, Abbott caused three turnovers and
Christine Hehmeyer made five saves in goal.
Lindenwood improves to 8-2 on the season and 3-0 in the RMAC. The Lady Lions are back in action on April 2 at Rollins.
