Outdoor Track And Field Begins Season At Washington University

The women's and men's outdoor track and field season started this weekend with the women finishing third out of 27 teams while the men took home eighth.

The women's team posted a score of 65 with the men scoring 39 points.

The women had a strong showing from Lindsey Blackwell who placed second in the hammer throw with a finals throw on 50.91m just one meter behind first place. She earned eight points toward the team score.

Blackwell also finished second in the discus with a finals throw 43.46 meters and also earned eight points toward the team score.

In the 4x400 women's relay the team of Jerelle Jones, Terah Fullman-Ege, Maya Mason, and Shamela Gray finished in third place. The team earned eight points with a time of 3:53.98.

 For the men, Rodgerick Woods and Kevin Brown combined for five team points in the 110 meter hurdles. Woods ran a time of 15.57 seconds with Brown running 15.58 seconds.

Brown would score high with teammates Mike Reynoso, Brannon Wright, and Juwan Cubit in the 4x100 meter relay. The team placed fourth earning five points with their time of 42.49 seconds.

The team is back in action Apr. 5 at the Greenville Select Meet in Greenville, Ill.
