Lindenwood Women's Field Athletes Impress At Missouri S&T

Lindenwood's women's field athletes shined in the 2014 Dewey Allgood Invitational hosted by Missouri S&T in Rolla, Mo.

Junior Lindsay Blackwell won the women's discus throw with a distance of 46.12 meters which met the provisional mark for the NCAA. Chelsea Smith finished fourth in the event with a distance of 40.30 meters while Michelle Kyle placed fifth with a throw of 38.56 meters.

Blackwell wasn't through with her excellent showing in Rolla. She finished first in the women's hammer throw as well. Blackwell had a provisional distance of 53.17 meters.

The hammer throw saw two more Lady Lions place in the top five. Michelle Kyle finished right behind Blackwell for second place. Kyle had a throw of 50.15 meters which met the provisional mark.  Smith came in fifth with a throw of 43.07 meters.

To finish up the event, Blackwell took home second place in the shot put. She had a final round throw measured at 12.12 meters just behind the first-place distance of 12.87 meters.

The women's pole vault saw two Lady Lions place in the top four of the event. Senior Claire Buckman had a provisional height of 3.65 meters finishing in third place. Junior Kimberly Klenke finished fourth with a height of 3.5 meters.

In the women's javelin throw, Meredith Owen won the event with her throw of 34.69 meters.

The event was the second of the weekend with the other being in Lawrence, Kan. at the 87th annual Kansas Relays.
