Lindenwood Tennis Splits with Metro State

The Lindenwood women's tennis team defeated Metro State 7-2 on Wednesday while the men dropped their dual with Metro State by a score of 5-4.

Daria Ivanova and Mariona Pinol won their doubles match 8-3 to tie the dual and the Lady Lions took the lead after a win by default in the third doubles match.  Metro State took the first match in singles play but it was all Lady Lions for the rest of the day.  Alexandra Medvedeva and Shreeja Karki each shutout their opponent in singles play.  Ivanova also had a solid showing in her singles match by defeating her opponent 6-1 and 6-1.

The men tied things up after the second doubles which was won by Filip Bogic and Sergio Lopez, but the Lions could not seem to get over the hump.  Metro State won three of the first four singles matches to put the dual out of reach for Lindenwood.  Lopez and Slobadan Bavrlic won their respective matches to send the Lions out on a high note despite the 5-4 loss.

The women will travel to St. Joseph, Mo. on Friday to take on Missouri Western at 3 p.m. before they meet back up with the men in Maryville, Mo. on Saturday to play Northwest Missouri State starting at 11 a.m.
