Box Score Lindenwood came out on top in a battle of top-15 women's lacrosse programs on Wednesday night in Winter Park, Fla. The No. 10 Lady Lions defeated No. 11 Rollins by a 19-11 margin.
Lindenwood fell in an early hole and trailed 4-3 just 10 minutes into the contest. The Lady Lions outscored Rollins 7-3 for the rest of the half though to take control of the contest.
Amanda Schimpke started that run with back-to-back free-position goals just 29 seconds apart, and she added another goal later in that run.
The Lady Lions put the game away early in the second half with a 4-0 run, and last year's NCAA semifinalist could never get closer than six the rest of the way.
Jordyn Constance led Lindenwood with five points in the game on three goals and two assists.
Melissa Smith, Schimpke, and
Maddi Ossello all had four goals.
Melissa Menchella scored three times, and
Erin Abbott had one goal and one assist.
Christine Hehmeyer made eight saves in goal and earned her ninth win of the season. Smith and Ossello had a team-high four groundballs and Abbott had a team-high five draw control wins.
Lindenwood improves to 9-2 on the season, with two of those wins coming against nationally-ranked programs. The Lady Lions have one of their biggest tests of the season on Friday when they travel to No. 5 Florida Southern.
