Track And Field Impresses At Kip Janvrin Invitational

The men's and women's track team competed at the 2014 Kim Janvrin open this weekend with several impressive performances.

 

The men's 4x400 meter relay team finished in third place with a time of 3:21.39 just three seconds away from the first place team from Dordt. The relay team consisted of Kelvin Lau, Joshua Newman, Jermaine Unanka, and Harrison Weber.

 

The women had an outstanding showing in the pole vault. Claire Buckman won the event with a finals height clearance of 3.65 meters and Kimberly Klenke finished the event in third place with a height of 3.35 meters.  Skylar Ragland and Megan Plevell tied for ninth in the event with a height of 2.90 meters.

 

Taylor Gibson finished third in the women's triple jump with a distance of 11.28 meters.

 

Several field athletes had good showings as well. Lindsay Blackwell continued her great outdoor season with a win in the discus throw. She had a final throw of 45.53 meters two full meters better than second place. Blackwell came in second in the hammer throw with a distance of 52.11 meters less than a meter behind first place.

 

Bryan Kertz represented the men well with his second-place finish in the men's discus throw with a distance of 52.69 meters.
