Track And Field Sweeps Greenville Select Meet

The Lindenwood men's and women's track and field teams both had successful showings at the Greenville College Select Meet in Greenville, Ill. with the men winning the event with a score of 143 and the women coming in first as well with their score of 133.5. Both teams finished in first place out of 10 teams.

Lindenwood took three out of the top five spots in the women's discus throw event. Lindsay Blackwell won the event with a distance of 42.88 meters in the finals. Paden Wachter finished third with a throw of 40.37 meters and Vanessa Cook finished fifth with a distance of 37.05 meters. The trio earned 18 points toward the team score.

The women's 4x100 relay team won the event with a time of 49.12 seconds earning 10 team points. The team consisted of Jerelle Jones, Shamela Gray, Maya Mason, and Terah Fullman-Ege.

Gray also won the 100 meter hurdles event with a time of 14.91 seconds in the finals and the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.84 seconds

Fullman-Ege continued her winning ways taking the title in the 800 meter run. She ran a time of 2:16.10 seconds; three seconds faster than second place to get the 10 points.

In the men's 110 meter hurdles Roderick Woods stepped up and won the event building on his excellent indoor hurdling season. Woods posted a time of 15.33 seconds .03 seconds ahead of seconds place earning the team 10 points in the process.

Woods along with Mike Reynoso took home the top two spots in the 400 meter hurdles. Reynoso won the race with a time of 55.12 seconds with Woods running 55.85 seconds. The duo earned 18 team points.

The men had a three competitors finish in the top three in the shot put event. Junior Bryan Kertz finished second with a throw of 14.2 meters followed by Alex Fellows in fourth place with a distance of 13.5 meters, and in fifth was Ryan Hermann with a distance of 13.44 meters. The three throwers combined for 14 points toward the team score.

Track and field will be back in action Apr. 11-12 at the Jim Duncan Invitational in Des Moines, Iowa.
