Box Score The No. 10 Lindenwood women's lacrosse team ended its crucial Florida road trip with a perfect 3-0 record after defeating Saint Leo on Sunday afternoon. The Lady Lions scored eight times in each half for a 16-7 victory.
Lindenwood scored the final four goals of the first half and four of the first five goals of the second half to take a commanding 12-4 advantage. The Lady Lions finished the contest with 11 more shots on goal and seven less turnovers than Saint Leo.
Melissa Smith led the offense with four goals, followed by three goals apiece by
Jordyn Constance and
Erin Abbott. Constance also had an assist,
Lindsey Palmer had two goals and one assist, and
Melissa Menchella had one goal and one assist.
Abbott also had a team-high four draw controls and two groundballs.
Christine Hehmeyer played nearly 55 minutes in goal and made eight saves while allowing just five goals.
Lindenwood, which is now 11-2 on the season, returns home next Sunday for a conference contest against Colorado Mesa. The Lady Lions can clinch a RMAC title with a victory in that game.
