The Lindenwood Track and Field team finished up competition at the MIAA Outdoor Championships Sunday with the women's team finishing in fifth place and the men's team placing ninth. The men's team finished in ninth place. Lincoln took home the women's title while the Pittsburg State Gorillas captured the men's title.
Day Two Results
No Lindenwood athletes competed during day one of the event, however day two would prove to be exciting for several members of the team.
Senior Bryan Kertz came in first in the men's discus throw with a distance of 53.96 meters earning 10 points toward the team total. His throw was not only .86 meters further than second place but also good enough to meet the provisional mark.
Lindsay Blackwell was another standout from the field athletes. She came in second in the women's discus throw with 47.75 meters earning eight points for the team. Her throw met the provisional mark as well.
Claire Buckman finished in third place in the women's pole vault with a height clearance of 3.72 meters also meeting a provisional mark while earning six points toward the team score.
The final day of competition is Sunday with the focus on the track events with a few field events still to be decided.
Day Three
Lindsay Blackwell competed in the field once again coming in sixth in the shot put event. Blackwell had a provisional mark of 13.61 meters while earning three points.
The women's hammer throw was a big event for the Lindenwood Lions. Michelle Kyle took second in the event 54.03 m for a provisional mark while earning eight points. Chelsea Smith took seventh place with a throw of 47.51 meters while checking two points.
Terah Fullman-Ege took home third place in the 800 meter run, her best event consistently throughout the season, with a time of 2:08.58. Fullman-Ege earned six points toward the team total.
Senior Mike Reynoso finished second in the 400 meters hurdles with a provisional time of 52.09. He finished just behind the first place runner from Lincoln.
Solomon Kipserem represented the Lions in the 3000 meters steeplechase coming in second in the event. He earned a provisional time of 9:24.04 while getting eight points.
Finally the 4x400 meters women's relay team of Jerrelle Jones, Fullman-Ege, Maya Mason, and Shamela Gray had an impressive second place showing. The team finished with a time of 3:44.29 getting eight points for the team.
