Track and Field Attempts To Qualify For Nationals

Lindenwood Track and Field athletes competed at Eastern Illinois' Twilight Meet in hopes of qualifying the national meet coming up in Allendale, Mich.

At the event, Juwan Cubit and Brannon Wright both broke the track time in the 200 meter dash. Cubit posted a time of 21.38 for second place while Wright came in third with a time of 21.62 seconds. 

Shamela Gray came in second in the 400 meter hurdles with her time of 1:00.56 after being the number one seed entering the event. Gray was also part of the 4x400 women's relay team that finished in first place with a time of 3:48.55. Other members of the team were Jerelle Jones, Terah Fullman-Ege, and Maya Mason.

At the Sam Williams Twlight Qualifier, Paden Wachter and Claire Buckman represented the track team in the shot put and pole vault, respectively. Buckman finished fifth in the pole vault with a height of 3.51m. 3.57 meters was a required height to meet the Division II provisional mark. Wachter finished seventh in the shot put with a distance of 13.28m short of the 13.41m provisional mark 

Lindsay Blackwell and Michelle Kyle met the provisional mark in the women's hammer throw.  Blackwell had a distance of 53.07 over three meters better than the 50.00 provisional mark. Kyle had a throw of 53.74 meters for second place in the event. Both athletes fell short of the 57.12 meters automatic qualfying distance.
