The Lindenwood track and field teams traveled to Warrensburg, Mo. for a track meet on Friday. Each team received outstanding individual performances. The women totaled more points in the meet, finishing fifth, with 43 points. While the men finished sixth, they were two points away from finishing fourth.

One of the people standing out for the Lady Lions track and field team was
Shamela Gray. Gray started out by winning the 60-meter prelims with an 8.69 time, Gray would get second in the finals by a small margin. Gray would also go on to finish second in the 200-meter dash, with a time of 26.26. Gray was also the anchor on the women's 400 relay team that took first. Gray ran the anchor, while
Maya Mason,
Jerelle Jones, and
Michaela Mason put Gray in good position to seal Lindenwood a first place finish.
Lindsey Blackwell followed a victory last week with a second-place finish in the weight throw. Blackwell also placed eighth in the shot put. Sophomore
Maya Mason finished fifth in the 400-meter dash, with a time of 1:00.428.
Jennifer Carter went on to finish fourth in the 600. Freshman Zori Holman finished fifth in the high jump to score two points for the Lady Lions. Â Fellow freshman,
Kendra Smith jumped her way to sixth place in the triple jump.

Standing out for the men were the top sprinters. DeAngelo Strickling finished 2nd in the prelims in the 60-meter dash, before cutting .09 off of his time in the final and winning the event. Michael Mlambo teamed up to give the Lions two out of the top five finishers in the 60-meter dash.Â
Juwan Cubit ran the 200-meter dash, finishing a tenth of a second ahead of teammate
Brannon Wright, giving the team a second and third place finish in the event. Wright, Strickling, and Cubit teamed with
Jermaine Unanka to run the 400-meter relay and finish third, with a time of 3:27.575. After watching fellow cross country teammate
Jennifer Carter finish fourth in the 600,
Kelvin Lau also finished fourth in the 600. Performing well in the throwing events for the Lions was
Bryan Kertz, who finished fourth in the shot put and Deondra Canaday, who finished fourth in the weight throw, with a distance of 16.86 meters. Jumping well for Lindenwood was Lavorrie Johnson, who finished fifth in the long jump, and Michael Mlambo, who finished sixth.
