The Lions finished up their weekend in Warrensburg, Mo. with the men and the women's teams coming in eighth place. The women scored 28 points, just two and a half shy of the seventh place Emporia State. The men finished with 38.5 points, eight and a half shy of the seventh place Northwest Missouri.
Leading off the sprinters for the women was
Shamela Gray, who scored Lindenwood's women five points, by finishing fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.38 in the finals. Gray scored Lindenwood another four points when she finished fifth in the 400, with a time of 57.18, but Gray wasn't done, scoring two points in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.9; which was good enough for seventh.
Lindsey Blackwell scored Lindenwood another point in the shot put, by finishing eighth, a day after finishing second in the weight throw.
For them, sprinters
DeAngelo Strickling and
Juwan Cubit continued to show impressive speed. Strickling finished third in the 60 meter with a time of 6.9 in the finals, scoring Lindenwood six points. Strickling carried the momentum into the 200-meter dash, where he finished third again, giving Lindenwood another six points. Cubit was right on Strickling's tail in both events, finished .007 seconds behind him in the 60 meter, scoring Lindenwood five points. Cubit finished the 200 fourth, with a time of 22.05 in the 200, scoring Lindenwood another five points. Cubit also scored Lindenwood another point in the 400.
Xavier Boland scored Lindenwood a point and half in the pole vault, when he cleared 4.66 meters and tied for seventh in the finals.
Michael Mlambo added another four points by long jumping 7.03 and finishing fifth.
Deondra Canaday built off a solid day that saw him place in the weight throw, by finishing fourth in the shot put, with a distance of 16.15 meters in the finals, scoring Lindenwood five points with a fourth place finish.
Some of the Lindenwood's track team will be going on to compete in the NCAA Division II Indoor National Championships in Birmingham, Ala. that will be taking place on March 13th and 14th. That will wrap up the indoor season, as they get ready to take on the outdoor season.
