Men's Track & Field (Discontinued)

Track and Field Competes in Drake Relays and True Blue Open

Lindenwood's track and field teams traveled to Des Moines, Iowa for the Drake Relays and Jacksonville, Ill. for the True Blue Open.  The Men won the True Blue Open, while the women finished second.

At the True Blue Open standing out for the men and helping them finish first was Jaron Alexander, who finished third in the 100-meter dash, with a time of 10.98. Colin Cernik won the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:06.77. Kelvin Lau and Ernesto Garcia finished fourth and fifth in the 400-meter dash. Tre Roby finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.67, just slightly behind the winner, Jaron Alexander, who had a time of 22.54. Deondra Canaday won the discus for the men, with a distance of 51.22 meters, Bryan Kertz finished third in the discus. Ryan Herman won the hammer throw for the men, with a distance of 51.05, Canaday and Kertz rounded out the top three. Canaday finished second in the shot put, by throwing a 16.43 meters.

Doing well for the women and helping them finish second at the True Blue Open was Jennifer Carter, who finished third in the 400-meter dash, with a time of 1:01.86. Linsey Chapa took first in the 400-meter hurdles, winning by a full four second with a time of 1:05.38. Zori Holman finished second in the high jump, by clearing a height of 1.57 meters. Claire Buckman won the pole vault, clearing a height of 3.65 meters, then Kimberly Klenke finished second, with Megan Plevell rounding out the entire Lindenwood top-five. Kendra Smith dominated the women's long jump, clearing 5.44 meters, with the second person clearing 4.75 meters. Smith also dominated in the triple jump, clearing 12 meters, Joy Kanengiser finished second with a height of 10.75 meters. Lindsey Blackwell won the discus throw, with a distance of 45.54 meters, with Bre Zanders and Vanessa Cook finishing second and third, to give Lindenwood the top-three spots. In the hammer throw, Blackwell dominated, with a distance of 57.34 meters. Kearstin Cantrell finished second, while Cook finished third. Meredith Owens finished second in the javelin with a distance of 27.90 meters. The Lady Lions continued to dominate the throwing events, having Cook win the shot put, while Blackwell and Chelsea Smith finishing second and third.

In the Drake Relays, Lavorrie Johnson, DeAngelo Strickling, Brannon Wright, and Juwan Cubit finished third in the 100-meter relay, finishing the relay with a time of 40.99.

Coming up next for Lindenwood will be the MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted in St. Charles, Mo. on May 1st through May 3rd. This will be Lindenwood's second event it has hosted this year after going years without hosting an event.
