Men's Track & Field (Discontinued)

Lindenwood’s Women’s Track and Field Teams Finishes 2nd, While Men Finish Third at Greenville

Lindenwood travelled to Greenville, Ill. to compete in the Greenville Elite Invitational. Lindenwood was one of the 12 teams competing. The women would go on to finish second, while the men would finish third.
                                                                 
Standing out for the women was Zori Holman, who finished second in the high jump with a height of 1.55 meters. Kimberly Klenke, Megan Plevell, and Skylar Ragland finished third, fourth, and fifth for Lindenwood in the pole vault. Kendra Smith won the long jump with a distance of 5.52 meters in the final. Smith would also win the triple jump, with a distance of 11.86 meters in the finals. Lindsey Blackwell, Vanessa Cook, and Chelsea Smith finished first, second, and fourth in the discus. Blackwell wasn't done with just winning the discus, as she went on to win the weight throw with a distance of 55.40 meters in the finals for an easy victory, she also finished second in the shot put. Shamela Gray won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.68, she then finished third in the 100-meter hurdles, with a time of 14.75. Maya and Michaela Mason finished second and third in the 400-meter dash. Maya Mason went on to run the 200 with a time of 26.03, good enough for second place.
 
Performing well for the men were Michael Mlambo and Lavorrie Johnson, finishing first and second in the long jump. Bryan Kertz won the discus throw with a distance of 47.50 meters in the finals. Kertz finished second in the weight throw, less than a meter behind teammate Ryan Hermann who won the weight throw. Lavorrie Johnson teamed up with DeAngelo Strickling, Brannon Wright, and Juwan Cubit to win the 100-meter relay. Cubit, Mlambo, Johnson, and Jaron Alexander finished second through fifth in the 100-meter dash. Cubit finished second in the 200, followed closely by Brannon Wright, Johnson, and Mlambo to take second through fifth place again. Wright teamed up with Joshua Newman, Mlambo and Colin Cernik for a first place finish in the 400-meter relay.
 
Coming up next for the track and field teams is a visit to the Billiken Invitational on April 10th and 11th in St. Louis, Mo.
