The 2015 MIAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Lindenwood University, ended on Sunday at the Lindenwood Track. The Lions and Lady Lions both finished eighth at the competition.
On the men's side, Lindenwood had 60 points, just two behind Nebraska-Kearney. Pittsburg State won the team title with 139 points. For the women, Lindenwood had 41.5 points, and finished 6.5 points shy of Northwest Missouri. Pittsburg State also won the women's title with a score of 176.5.
Eight Lindenwood athletes earned all-conference honors. On the men's side, the Lions had three runner-up finishes and a third-place showing.
Michael Mlambo was second in the long jump,
Deondra Canaday was runner-up in the shot put, and the men's 4x100 team of
Lavorrie Johnson,
Juwan Cubit,
Brannon Wright, and Mlambo had the second-fastest time. Cubit also finished third in the 200m. For the Lady Lions,
Lindsey Blackwell was third in the hammer,
Kendra Smith was third in the triple jump, and
Shamela Gray won the bronze in the 400m hurdles.
Also scoring for the Lions were
Bryan Kertz who was fourth in the discus and seventh in the shot put, Cubit who was fourth in the 100m, Ryan hermann was fifth in the hammer,
Colin Cernik was fifth in the 1500m,
Brannon Wright was fifth in the 200m, Canaday was eighth in the hammer,
DeAngelo Strickling was eighth in the 100m and 200m, and the 4x400 relay team was sixth.
Scoring for the women's team were the 4x400 team coming in fourth,
Kimberly Klenke coming in fourth in the pole vault, Gray finishing fifth in the 100m hurdles, Blackwell coming in fifth in the discus and seventh in shot put, and Smith being eighth in the long jump.
