The Lindenwood men's and women's swimming and diving teams will return to St. Charles with a pair of dual victories over host Colorado Mesa University on Tuesday afternoon after a month-long break from competition.
The 100 free relay team of
Niki Dahl, Kinga Lesinka,
Audra Thornton, and
Bethany Steffes won the race with a time of 44.85, more than three seconds faster than the CMU squad who finished second. Elise Defabio,
Alecia McGillivray, and
Abby Maricle led the women to a victory in the 3x50 back relay. The 3x50 breast relay was led by
Ewa Dymarek,
Shelby Quinn, and
Kate Stauffer, who took first place. Thornton joined
Hannah Vinyard and
McKenzie Murphy in winning the 3x50 fly relay with a time of 1:08.30, less than a second faster than the second place CMU team.
Allie Steinhauser won the 1m dive, with
Shelby Werkema,
Carleen Wayne, and
Ashley Holloway finishing third, fourth, and fifth, respectively. Wayne won the 3m dive totaling 238.45 points.
The women won each of their eight events, leading to a 214 to 114 victory over the host school.
For the men,
Mateusz Pacholczyk,
Joseph Martin, and
Cade Bains won the 3x50 breast, just edging out CMU in second. Pacholcyzk and Martin added to
Felix Eigel and
Thomas Bernard winning the 400 IM relay. The 500 free relay was also a tight one for the men, but
Michael Szczukowski,
Serghei Golban,
Gustavo Silva Santa, and
Cristian Vasquez pulled out another victory for Lindenwood.
CMU's diver Ryan Popp won both the 1m and 3m dive events.
David Cochran and
Schyler Hohenberger traded second and third place finishes in both events, while
Valentin Merlet placed fourth in both events.
The men's team outscored CMU 180-156, with each team winning four events.
Both the men's and women's teams will be hosting Washington University in Maryland Heights, Mo. on January 22nd at 6 p.m.
