The Lindenwood men's and women's track and field finished competition at the SIUE Gateway Invitational in Edwardsville, Ill. on Saturday night. Schools such as Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville, Southeast Missouri State University, McKendree University, University of Southern Indiana, and Fontebonne University all competed at the event.

In the women's 400m dash, Maya Mason recorded the second-fastest time of 59.57 seconds, while Michaela Mason and Jennifer Carter finished third and fourth in the event. Linsey Chapa and Erin Hodge had the top-two times in the 400m hurdles.

Kendra Smith had a 5.63m performance in the long jump, the fourth-best mark in the competition. Taylor Gibson and Joy Kanengiser finished with a 4.90m and 4.70m mark, respectively.

Akintunde Akinyemi recorded a 2.05m mark in the high jump, while Xavier Boland had a best of 4.87m in the pole vault. Alex Armstrong also won the javeline throw with a best of 55.19m, defeating the participant from SIUE.

Michael Mlambo had the second-best mark in the long jump with a best of 7.43m. Deondra Canaday tossed a 52.36m in the shot put, good for third in the event, while his 57.89m mark in the hammer throw put him in fourth for the event.

Both the men's and women's team begin competiton at the Kansas Relays on Wednesday and will wrap up on April 23.
