The Lindenwood men's and women's track and field teams combined to have 13 winners at Truman State in Kirksville, Mo. on Thursday, but each team placed second overall behind the host school and ahead of William Penn University and Missouri Valley College.
Zori Holman won the women's high jump with a best of 1.65m, and accumulated nine points for the team, while
Taylor Gibson placed first in the triple jump.
Chelsea Smith took first place in the discus at 40.46m, while
Michelle Kyle finished second and Kearstin Cantell earned seventh. Kyle and Smith finished first and second in the hammer throw, respectively. Kyle threw for 51.33m to win the event.
Erin Hodge took home the 100m hurdles win with a time of 14.65 seconds, while
Jennifer Carter won the 800m run at 2:24.19. Hodge also earned first place in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:05.29.
Maya Mason and
Michaela Mason placed first and third, respectively, in the 400m, earning a combined 15 points for the team.
Overall, the women finished with 149 points to place second.
On the men's side,
Xavier Boland recorded a 4.92m mark in the pole vault to win the event.
Michael Mlambo won the long jump with a 7.44m best, nearly two meters more than the second-place finisher.
Deondra Canaday won the hammer throw at 57.83m, while also finishing second in the discus. Alex Armstrong won the javeline throw at 51.41m.
DeAngelo Stricking and
Jaron Alexander placed first and third, respectively, in the 100m, as Strickling finished in 10.69 seconds and Alexander in 10.72 seconds. Alexander and Strickling also placed second and third, respectively, in the 200m.
The men finished with 109 points as a team, just five ahead of WIlliam Penn.
Select athletes will be competing at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa and the Kip Javrin Open at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa this coming weekend. Mlambo,

Ero Doce,
Kelvin Lau,
Zach McKinley, and
Colin Cernik will be heading to the Drake Relays, while
Lisa Feuerherdt and
Linsey Chapa will be competing at Simpson College.
