The Lindenwood track and field teams finished competition at the MIAA Outdoor Championships on Sunday in Maryville, Mo. on the campus of Northwest Missouri. After all events were scored, the men earned seventh as a team while the women placed 11th.
Michael Mlambo finished third in the long jump with a 7.47m mark to surpass the provisional qualifying standard again in the outdoor season.
Deondra Canaday also earned a third place finish for Lindenwood, with a 52.68m throw in the discus. Canaday also finished fourth in the shot put.
Xavier Boland tied for second in the pole vault after successfuly jumping 5.00m in his penultimate attempt.
After winning the high jump event at the indoor conference meet,
Akintunde Akinyemi earned fourth place in the outdoor event with a 2.04m provisional mark.
The men's 4x100 relay placed fifth in the event.
Jaron Alexander, Tre Roby,
DeAngelo Strickling, and Mlambo finished with a time of 41.17, just .06 away from third place. Strickling and Alexander also finished third and fifth, respectively, in the 100m dash. In the 200m dash, Strickling collected more points as he placed sixth.
Kendra Smith provisionally qualified for the long jump after a 5.76m mark earned herself a sixth-place finish.
Joy Kanengiser placed third in the triple jump with an 11.02m mark.
Earning a sixth-place finish in the 1500m run was
Lisa Feuerherdt, who finished in 4:42.51.
Linsey Chapa placed sixth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:02.37.
After the three-day event, the men earned seventh place in the conference. The women placed 11th. With their individual performances, Canaday and Strickling were honored as all-conference.
Lindenwood has nearly a three-week break before nationals, which will be in Tampa, Fla. from May 26-28 where selected individuals will compete.
